NO PLACE LIKE HOME
No one cooks more at home, than the Pakistani moms. They are the soul and heart, the tradition bearers and innovators of Pakistani food culture. A culture that for a long time has been overshadowed by the global popularity of the Indian kitchen.
The Pakistani mom is the lifeblood of home cooking, she sources the ingredients daily, piece by piece, navigating through the crowded marketplace sometimes for hours. No two days are quite the same but each dish is made with the love and care that only a mother can produce.
Zahida arrived in the United Kingdom as a hopeful migrant after leaving Pakistan’s Jhelum City in the mid 70’s, bringing her optimism, love for authentic home cooking and a bag of home ground spices. Needless to say, the 70’s weren’t the easiest times to acquire all the comforts from home, but nearly 40 years later after a home cooking revolution, the future looks bright.
In Octoer 2019 we moved location to the old Hache restaurant in KBH K just by Nørreport station and opposite the Torvehallerne market and food hall.
THE AFFRIDI BROTHERS
HOME COOKED PAKISTAN
We are 2 brothers from the UK who've always had a passion for food after growing up around our mother and helping her prepare the family meals from an early age. Thus we’ve always dreamed of opening a Pakistani Kitchen to share our love for south asian food with the world, so we finally did and named it after our mother as a tribute to all the moms worldwide. Zahida pays homage to old fashioned home cooking and the food of South Asia. We serve authentic Pakistani food with a focus on real home cooked Punjabi cuisine. We only serve a limited number of dishes but we do every one of them as if we were serving our own family, the way our mother taught us.
